A Unique Selling Proposition (often called a USP) clearly states what makes your company, product, or service different and better than competitors.

Why is it Important?

It helps customers quickly understand your value and why they should choose you.

Creating a USP for Your Company:

Focus on what makes your entire business unique:

  • Core Value/Philosophy: What fundamental belief or approach sets your company apart?
  • Unique Service Model: Do you offer a unique way of doing business?

Creating a USP for Your Product/Service:

Focus on what makes a specific offering unique:

  • Unique Feature/Benefit: What singular aspect of your product/service is unmatched or solves a problem better?
  • Specific Problem Solved: What particular pain point does it address that competitors don't, or don't as well?

Key Tips for Your USP:

  • Be Specific: Don't be vague.
  • Be Relevant: It must matter to your target customer.
  • Be Defensible: Can you actually deliver on the promise?
  • Be Concise: Easy to understand and remember.
