How to Define the Uniqueness in Marketing
Uniqueness (or USP - Unique Selling Proposition) is what makes your company and/or product/service special and different from competitors. It tells customers why they should choose you.
For a Company:
- Identify Core Strengths: What does your company do exceptionally well? (e.g., great customer service, fast delivery, ethical practices).
- Define Values: What does your company stand for? (e.g., sustainability, community focus).
- Target Audience: Who do you serve best? What are their needs you fulfill differently?
- Combine: Your company's uniqueness is how your strengths and values meet your target audience's needs better than anyone else.
For a Product/Service:
- List Features: What does it do? (e.g., saves time, costs less, is portable).
- Identify Benefits: What problem does it solve or how does it improve a user's life? (e.g., less stress, more free time, easy travel).
- Compare: How are these benefits/features better or different from competitors?
- Focus on ONE Big Benefit: What is the most important, unique benefit that makes people want it? This is your product/service uniqueness.
